Is my donation tax deductible?+
Yes. NVVVF is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. A donation receipt is provided for every contribution.
How is my donation used? +
Donations support emergency financial assistance for veterans and their families experiencing temporary financial hardship. Assistance commonly includes housing expenses, utility bills, vehicle repairs, transportation, medical copayments, and other urgent needs that help veterans regain financial stability. Whenever practical, payments are made directly to creditors rather than to the veteran
How much of my donation goes toward helping veterans?+
One hundred percent of every donation designated for veteran assistance supports the emergency financial assistance program. Administrative expenses are covered separately through Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 227, maximizing the impact of every donor dollar.
Can I designate my donation for a specific veteran?+
Donations normally support the emergency assistance program as a whole so assistance can be directed where the need is greatest. If you have a special request regarding your donation, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss it.
Does my employer offer matching gifts?+
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs. Contact your Human Resources or Community Relations office to determine whether your contribution qualifies. We are happy to provide any supporting documentation your employer requires.
How can my business become a sponsor?+
We welcome partnerships with businesses, foundations, civic organizations, and corporations. Opportunities include financial sponsorships, grants, employee giving campaigns, event sponsorships, in-kind donations, and professional services such as legal, accounting, technology, marketing, or website support

Who can become a referral partner?+
Veterans Service Organizations, Veterans Service Offices, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, and other agencies serving veterans are encouraged to contact us.
Can our agency refer veterans? +
Yes. Approved referral partners receive the referral forms, documentation requirements, and guidance needed to submit requests for emergency financial assistance.
Is training available for referral partners? +
Yes. Chapter 227 provides guidance on the referral process, documentation requirements, and review procedures.
Can someone speak to our organizatio+
Yes. We are available to provide presentations to civic groups, veterans organizations, businesses, churches, and community organizations.
VETERANS SEEKING HELP
I need emergency financial assistance. What should I do first? +
Contact us or one of our referral partners. We will help connect you with the appropriate organization to begin the referral process.
Do I have to be referred?+
Yes. Assistance is normally provided through trusted referral partners who work directly with veterans.
Can my spouse or family member contact you? +
Yes. Family members are welcome to contact us, and we will explain the referral process and next steps.
Will asking for help affect my VA benefits?+
No. Emergency financial assistance through this program does not affect VA disability compensation, pension benefits, or other VA benefits.
Is my information kept confidential?+
Yes. Information is shared only with organizations involved in evaluating and administering the request.
How quickly can someone respond?+
Our goal is to review complete referrals and coordinate assistance within 48 hours whenever possible. Payment delivery may require additional time depending on the payment method.

GENERAL
What is the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation?+
NVVVF is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization established in 2025 to raise funds that support emergency financial assistance for veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia.
Why was NVVVF created?+
NVVVF was created to provide a dedicated charitable fundraising organization while Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 227 continues administering the emergency financial assistance program.
How is NVVVF different from VVA Chapter 227?+
NVVVF raises charitable funding. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 227 reviews referrals, authorizes assistance, coordinates payments to creditors, and administers the emergency assistance program.
What areas do you serve?+
We primarily serve veterans residing within the 21 jurisdictions that comprise the Virginia Veterans & Family Services Northern Region. Requests from outside the region may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Can I volunteer?+
Yes. Volunteers are welcome to assist with fundraising, events, outreach, grant research, marketing, communications, website support, social media, and administrative activities.
